Greening Marion – Systemic Innovation Lab in South Australia This cross-government partnership between City of Marion and Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board (AMLR NRM Board) will establish a Systemic Innovation Lab (Greening Marion) that will focus on greening a suburb in Marion. Wicked Lab will build the capacity of the Lab’s Core Team, which will map the solution ecosystem of greening initiatives in Park Holme and support stakeholders to identify where future policy and projects could improve the effectiveness of the system


SA Fire & Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM) – SA Disaster Resilience Working alongside Miriam Lumb (Project Manager) and her team at the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM), Wicked Lab is supporting the Disaster Resilience team to apply our framework. The Wicked Lab approach is being used for implementing and monitoring the South Australian Disaster Resilience Strategy.


South West Food Community WA – Systemic Innovation Lab update This Western Australian Systemic Innovation Lab – led by Dr Stephanie Godrich of Edith Cowan University held its “address the gaps” day in December 2018. The day invited stakeholders working on Food Insecurity initiatives in South Western Australia to attend a 1 day workshop to hear updates on ecosystem research using Wicked Lab’s online Tool for Systemic Change. The day provided an opportunity for stakeholders to address gaps in the SW Food System by participating in activities designed to generate systemic innovation in addressing the gaps

Call for papers ‘Complexity Stream’ for the 11th International Social Innovation Research Conference is Now Open

The International Social Innovation Research Conference (ISIRC) is the world’s leading interdisciplinary social innovation research conference. The conference brings together scholars from across the globe to discuss social innovation from a variety of perspectives. Since 2017, the Conference has had a ‘Social Innovation & Complexity Stream’ that is Co-chaired by Wicked Lab’s CIO Dr Sharon Zivkovic. ISIRC 2019 will be hosted by The Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health, Glasgow Caledonian University from Monday 2nd to Wednesday 4th September 2019.


Annual Conference of the International Research Society for Public Management

Wicked Lab’s CIO Dr Sharon Zivkovic will be presenting in the ‘Advancing governance networks theory and working with social complexity’ panel at the 23rd Annual Conference of the International Research Society for Public Management: ReNewing Public Management for Stewardship, Innovation andImpact, 16 - 18 April 2019, Wellington. The title of Sharon’s presentation is ‘Supporting practitioners to measure systems change when addressing wicked problems’.

Winner of South Australian Environmental Educator of the year 2018

Wicked Lab’s Dr Sharon Zivkovic was award 2018 South Australian Environmental Educator of the year and was finalist in the national award. We congratulate Sharon’s outstanding achievements in environmental education and commitment to education for sustainability. Every year Chapters of Australian Association for Environmental Education are encouraged to nominate a member who has achieved significant outcomes for an Annual Award for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Education in Australia.
